Strut Tower Stiffeners
Cheap Insurance
I don’t know what they were thinking when they designed front strut tower mounts on our cars. Evidently, they had never driven on our roads with giant pot holes just waiting to gobble up a MINI. The next thing you know you have the dreaded mushrooming on the top of your strut towers. Only fixed with a block of wood and a really big hammer, you don’t want this to happen to you car. These strut tower stiffeners are the cheap insurance you need.

Mushrooming
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but you may not be able to detect the mushroomed strut towers if you looked at a thousand photos. Less than one inch of tower deformation can be extremely detrimental to your MINI's alignment. This has been a common issue that MINI owners have had to face. It is a compromise in the design of the vehicle, where the tight springs allow for the griptastic handling that we love on the twisties, but are the main reason that our MINI's have a unique disposition for sheet metal deformation referred to earlier as mushrooming.

Strut Tower Stiffeners
Are an easy preventative measure. Instead of suffering the consequences of a lack of protection, using these stiffeners will strengthen your MINI's strut towers before deformation can occur. By sandwiching the sheet metal between the strut and this 1/2 inch thick aircraft aluminum plate, it is strengthened ten-fold. Sold in pairs, one for the right tower and one for the left. They retain a 1/2 inch thickness throughout ensuring that there are no weak spots. Installation is easy, using the included instructions, it will take about 10 minutes to ensure that you do not have to go through a lengthy and expensive alignment repair. You do not need to lift the car, and the only tool needed is a torque wrench.

These stiffeners are available for the 2002 -2006 (R50/52/53) and the 2007-2010 (R55/56/57) MINIs. The pair comes with custom made, 14mm, bolt adapters. These adapters are necessary to allow installation of such a thick plate without weakening the piece at the attachment points.

FRONT LICENSE PLATE MOUNT
Why didn’t I think of that? I went ahead and drilled holes in my front bumper for the “required” front plate mount.

Craven Speed’s front license plate mount attaches to the tow hook receptacle on the front of the MINI. Once it is bolted in place the mounting plate can be located in a wide variety of positions. One is sure to meet your taste.

This good looking, tough, thick aluminum plate provides a solid mounting surface. Powder coated black to withstand the elements.

Once you have your mounting bracket in place you won’t need to remove it for car washes, but with it’s ease of removal, it is recommended that you do. This bracket system makes it easy to add our single or triple grill badge holders that attach on the same bolt as your license plate.

Shock Tower Covers / Cup Holder Delete
These nylon plugs snap into the opening at the top of the front shock towers. Not only do they improve the under bonnet appearance, they keep out mud, dirt, and other debris, helping to keep the engine bay clean. They install in seconds and give your car a finished look.

Another use for these plugs, is they slip right into the cup holder cavity to act as a cup holder delete. Keep the car lint out of your cup holders when not in use. Can easily be removed when needed.
